Nupes, let us heed this entreaty from our revered Founder, Edward G. Irvin:
The fundamental purpose of this infant organization was, and is now "Achievement." Achievement in the intellectual, spiritual, physical and social phases of life. This the Fraternity holds can be better attained through group action, rather than individual. We hold that within the sacred confines of Kappa Alpha Psi, we exchange ideas, work for the common good, and consecrate ourselves at the altar of manly endeavors. We of this Clan have common interests, make common sacrifices, and assume common responsibilities. Through this, the organization has turned inefficient individual efforts into efficient fraternal efforts for the good of all.

Yours In The Bond.

North Central Province Polemarch's

Memorial Day Message

Today, we gather to remember the heroes from each generation who have lost their lives protecting our freedom.  Intertwined in the journey of Kappa Alpha Psi is the story of good Kappa men who loved our country so deeply that they were willing to  give their all to keep it safe and free.  When the call to serve came, they instinctively answered "I'll go" to protect their country and their brothers in arms.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that preserving our exceptional democracy often comes with a heavy cost.  To those we lost, we owe a profound debt that can never be fully repaid. But we can honor the fallen by caring for their loved ones and keeping faith with our veterans and their fellow brothers and sisters in arms.  Let us remember their service, honor their sacrifice, and celebrate their memory.

So, as you are tending to the grill this afternoon, or spending time with family and friends, pause to reflect that the freedoms that we enjoy this day were earned by the sacrifices of those who came before.  Let us do all that we can so that their sacrifice has not been in vain.

There is a quote that says, "...we can't all be heroes, some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by."  I ask that you join me today as I clap for those Kappa heroes as their memory proverbially goes by.

Ronald R. Young, 28th Grand Polemarch (Nov 13, 1948 - Jan 15, 2014)

Ronald R. Young, a resident of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15th at his home. He was a native of Chester, SC and a beloved son of the late John W. Young and the living Alberta “Peaches” Young.

Ron accomplished greatness in many aspects of his life both professionally and personally. He rose in the corporate ranks at Agway, Inc. and most recently served as Vice President for Public and Governmental Affairs at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. But equally important in his life was his dedication to community service, which he exhibited through his leadership roles on boards for the United Way of Central New York, Central New York Community Foundation, and Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. Ron is probably best known for his longtime membership and commitment to his fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., where he served in many leadership roles, rising to International Grand Polemarch (President). In 2011, he was the centennial recipient of the Fraternity’s highest honor, The Laurel Wreath.

Ron will be remembered as a fun loving, compassionate, generous community leader, an avid golfer & sports enthusiast. He was passionate about his family, friends, fraternity and his dogs.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Jacqueline M. Jackson-Young and three daughters Jenelle R. Pope of California (Che’), Nicole C. Collier of Maryland (Brent), and Whitney M. Young of 00Georgia. He is also survived by his mother, Alberta “Peaches” Young of Syracuse and brother, John A. Young (Tonette) of Syracuse, and three grandchildren, Kaya & Ethan Pope and Davis Collier.

Viewing will be held at Bethany Baptist Church, 149 Beattie St, Syracuse, NY on Friday, January 24 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25 at 12noon at Bethany Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ronald R. Young Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank location.
Please feel free to send a message or share a memory on Ron’s tribute page atwww.palmermemorialchapel.com.
